The early 1800s were a dark time for American firefighting. Volunteer fire companies operated like rival gangs, often sabotaging other companies out of pure spite.
Under the banner of Company Eight, a Boston builder set out to change all that in a battle that would shape the future of firefighting in America.
My task - to illustrate the life and times of the heroic Company Eight.
